    Reviving Pygame - February 2nd, 2005
      As you might have noticed, Pete has been MIA recently. A group of Pygame users (Bob Ippolito, Rene "illume" Dudfield, Joe "piman" Wreschnig, and others in #pygame) are trying to organize the 1.7 release in his absence. If you know of any bugs in Pygame 1.6.2 that haven't been fixed in CVS (if you don't know and don't know how to check, assume they aren't), please stop by #pygame on irc.freenode.net, or email piman@pygame.org. If you've sent any patches to Pete within the past few months and they haven't gotten applied, please resend them to piman@pygame.org.

    Python Game Interview - July 18
      Pygame is hosting a new interview with Steve Moret, Lead Programmer for Troika Games. Read about the decision to use Python in this game project and what some of the results were.

    Pygame 1.7 Prerelease - July 18
      A new development release of Pygame is available.This comes as a windows binary or source release at the moment. There are many new features and fixes from the previous 1.6. This release is intended for developers to test out and implement the new features before the real 1.7 release.

    Major New Code Repository - June 27
      I am pleased to announce a new Pygame Code Repository is now online. This comes at a good time, since the old repository was without maintainer for the last year. This new one offers many great features. Primarily you can register for an account, and upload and manage your own entries. About half of the old PCR entries have already been converted to the new site. There are already new entries. We need people to check it out and expand.

    pygame-users Newsgroup - April 29
      The pygame-users mailing list is now being gatewayed in gmane.comp.python.pygame. Big thanks to GMane for their hosting of the newsgroup gateway and all the pygame-users archives. You can browse online through their simple browser.

    48 Game Development Competition - April 5
      Another LudumDare 48 Hour Game programming competition will be starting soon. Pygame is one of the many acceptable game libraries. Theme voting is entering the final stages, Sign In to enter the contest and choose from the game themes.

    Pathological Article - February 1
      Pathological, the popular pygame puzzler, has been featured in a small NewsForge review. Nice to see more positive reviews of pygame based projects.

    New Sprite Tutorial - January 15
      Another one of our users, piman, has put together an excellent new tutorial for the pygame.sprite classes. Shows a lot of "real world" ways to use and enhance them.

    Pygame 1.6 released - October 23
      Pygame 1.6 has been released. There are no big features since the last release, mainly several bug cleanups and internal fixes. This version should stand as the stable release for the next 6 months. Download. WhatsNew.

    New Tutorial - August 11
      Shandy Brown has been working on a large new tutorial. At this point it has become fairly mature, but is still looking for further review. Please read how Shandy describes the bigger picture of pygame game design.
