Description

Kaotic Hegemony is a 2-dimensional space 1 vs 1 fighting game.

Overview:

Based on a particular game from the early 90's that I enjoyed immensely when I was young. I have tested and confirmed that it runs on Python 2.7 and 3.x in a Windows7 environment as well as in Python 2.7 on Linux Mint. Still in the very early stages of development.

Controls:

  • Player One:
    • Movement: Arrow-Keys
    • Primary: P-Key
    • Secondary: O-Key (not implemented)
  • Player Two:
    • Movement: WASD
    • Primary: Spacebar
    • Secondary: Left Shift (not implemented)
  • Global:
    • Show FPS : F5
    • Hard Quit : Escape

Future:

Multiple ship types. Planets with gravity. Asteroids. An endless list of other elements.

Changes

Minor update. Still no weapons or life bars. Going to try to get that done in the next week, but free time is at a premium.

New:

  • Elastic collisions between ships implemented now, though there are some fringe situations that still glitch.
  • FPS displayed by pressing F5

Fixes:

  • Scrolling at zooms improved.
  • Updating ship location immediately after zoom change.
  • Map wrapping glitch at corners fixed.

"Star Control" would be the "Game from the 90's" that I was referring to :P. This will eventually be a pseudo-clone of that game (but hopefully I will also find a way to make it feel unique). You can of course build a Star Control clone of your own, but as that is the project that I am aiming at, I would rather you adapt the ideas from my code rather than just cut and paste it verbatim, changing the art. On the other hand, if you are an experienced pixel artist I could probably use some assistance in that regard.

Really nice. There was a game for Sega called "Star Control" with the same movement and camera system. I was looking for something like this to make a remake of that game. May I use your project for this? Or, even, help you on this one? hehe :)
