hmm its really laggy after you shoot...
[btw it took me far to long to figure out the controls...had to hunt through your source code just to find the fire button. and that clicking is the way to go.]

Thanks for the feedback, roebros. I'll update the set_colorkey() calls to use positional arguments.

Either you have to set a colorkey, or load an image with an alpha channel and convert_alpha it - otherwise you will have boxes around the images...
But I would upgrade your pygame version either way LOL :)

I tried to run your code and it failed, you set teh colorkey like this:
image.set_colorkey((color), flags=pygame.RLEACCEL)

My pygame complains that it doesn't take a keyword argument - which it does, so I dunno - seems like a bug in pygame to me :S
For now though I would recommend you just put the RLEACCEL as an arg, it doesn't require the arg name before it to work ;)

I have no idea... How odd.

I've tried Python 2.5.2, Pygame 1.7.1 and Ubuntu 8.04 and I don't see this problem. Is there a chance something changed in the behaviour of the Surface class between Pygame 1.7 and 1.8?

pymike, which platform and version of Pygame are you using?

Oh! I played this before on the gamelets page. It was quite fun. Use surface.set_colorkey((0, 0, 0), pygame.RLEACCEL) to get rid of the black boxes in the images.
