Really nice :) Now all you need to do is..
1) trace rays in 60 degrees rather than 360.. for the way the guy is facing..
2) create epic first person shooter

It also looks similar to the shadowing used in Phil Hassey's LD48 entry Escape from Anathema Mines. Your code is very readable. Why not add it to the cookbook? It's short enough...

Nice work, reminds me a lot of the lightning used in Nox. Yep yep, very nice indeed.
